At Republican gathering, Hanaway wins straw poll over Schweich

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – In a first test in the 2016 Republican gubernatorial primary, former House Speaker Catherine Hanaway prevailed over State Auditor Tom Schweich in a straw poll of state committee members.

The poll was taken of 59 members of the Missouri Republican State Committee. Ten members abstained, while 29 voted for Hanaway and 16 voted for Schweich.

In a presidential poll, Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker won majority-support from the committee.
