JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – Missouri House Speaker John Diehl has been accused of exchanging sexually charged text messages with an intern who had worked in the Capitol.

According to text messages obtained by the Kansas City Star, the text messages showed lengthy exchanges between a 19-year-old freshman intern who attended Missouri Southern State University in Joplin and Diehl, including efforts to meet in person.

“God I want you right now,” Diehl is said to have texted her, to which she replied, “I wish you could have me right now.”

Missouri Southern pulled all of their interns from the Capitol in the middle of the spring, and the University of Central Missouri subsequently pulled two of theirs who had worked in Senate offices.

Neither Diehl nor the Missouri Southern intern responded to text messages requesting comment on Wednesday.
