JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – Missouri State Auditor Tom Schweich will make a “major announcement” Wednesday, his campaign said Tuesday night, after months of lead up surrounding the Republican’s plans for the governor’s race in 2016.

Schweich has been readying to enter the Republican primary campaign against former House Speaker Catherine Hanaway, as Republicans seek a candidate to challenge the likely Democratic candidate, Attorney General Chris Koster.

Schweich’s campaign had begun calling donors and supporters earlier this week, including planning logistics for an event in southeast Missouri on Friday, part of a pending stateside announcement tour.
