— On the same day the St. Louis Post-Dispatch won a Pulitzer Prize for its photographer’s coverage of the unrest in Ferguson, John Hancock, chairman of the Missouri Republican Party, slammed the paper’s editorial board.
In a tweet, Hancock criticized Tony Messenger, an editorial writer for the paper who was a finalist for a Pulitzer, himself.
If they gave a #Pulitzer for character assassination, I’m sure @tonymess would have won… #WaitTilNextYear.

Hancock, the embattled chairman of the state Republican Party following the suicide of State Auditor Tom Schweich (who had accused him of an alleged anti-Semitic whisper campaign against him), had been the subject of a number of critical editorials by Messenger.
