A group of Missouri Republican operatives announced Monday they are teaming up to apply their combined influence on the Missouri Legislature.
Gregg Keller, Rich Chrismer, Jim Gwinner, Mike Hafner and Holly Gogel – all of whom have deep roots within the state’s Republican community — have launched the “Missouri Century Foundation,” a new non-profit organization that will focus on three issues in the Legislature.
Keller, who will be the group’s chairman, said foundation will actively oppose Medicaid expansion, labor unions, and is teaming up with the American Center for Law & Justice against proposed legislation that would require political non-profits to disclose their donors.
“The idea to form this group was born out of the need for a new generation of conservative leaders who could come together to champion free market initiatives,” Keller said. “Together we have developed a core set of initiatives that we believe are critical to ensuring the economic health of our state for decades to come. We are committed to improving the quality of life for current and future generations of Missourians by supporting forward looking policies that have a strong free market core.”
In addition to the group’s efforts in the Legislature, its leaders are already active in 2016 politics.
Keller, who worked on Sen. Jim Talent’s 2006 campaign and most recently led the American Conservatives Union, is doing communications for State Auditor Tom Schweich’s campaign. Chrismer, a former spokesman for both Gov. Matt Blunt and U.S. Sen. Roy Blunt, is active with Sen. Eric Schmitt’s campaign for state treasurer, and Hafner, of Barklage-Knodell, works with former Rep. Rick Stream, a candidate for state senate in 2016.
