JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – Gov. Jay Nixon on Wednesday called on the Justice Department to speed up its investigation into the shooting of Michael Brown, a young black man who was killed in August by a white Ferguson police officer.
“They need to get a finish line,” Nixon said, joining the calls by protestors and advocates for the agency to conclude its inquiry.
The Justice Department launched theirs around the same time St. Louis County officials began their own investigation into the police officer, Darren Wilson. St. Louis County Prosecutor Bob McCulloch announced the a grand jury’s findings in late November, but the federal investigation has not ended.
