— The rivalry between Missouri and Kansas stretches back more than 150 years, but this year, Republican parties in both states have something in common: The line-up for the evening sessions of their statewide gatherings on the third weekend of February .
Missouri Republicans announced on Friday that Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell will deliver the keynote address to the party’s February 18 Lincoln Day dinner. On the same day, McDonnell deliver another address to Kansas GOP’s State Convention.
On Feb. 17, Missouri Republicans will host Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal. Jindal will speak to Kansas Republicans on the same day.
“This year, we are excited to feature two of the most accomplished and impressive governors in the nation,” said David Cole, chairman of the Missouri Republican Party. “Both of these conservative leaders highlight the importance of electing Republicans at every level of government.”
Missouri Republicans are hosting their annual Lincoln Day event that weekend in Kansas City, while Kansas Republicans are hosting their 2012 convention in neighboring Overland Park.
