Republican legislator’s pharmacy license in jeopardy after giving illegal prescriptions to himself, others and his dog

A state license given to State Rep. Lynn Morris to operate pharmacies in southwest Missouri has been put on probation for three years, after the Missouri Board of Pharmacy found the Republican of Ozark had improperly distributed to himself, others and his dog.

The complaint, which was filed against him in March, states that Morris used the name of a doctor who had not examined him or authorized the medicine to get anti-nausea medicine and prescription pain drugs, to name a couple of the at least 18 violations they found, from March 2011 to January 2013.

The report also found that Morris dispensed medicine for his dog under the name of his same doctor, who, like Morris, the report notes, “is not a veterinarian.”

Morris, who serves as vice chairman of the House Health Insurance Committee, operates Family Pharmacy in the Springfield area. He sponsored legislation this year that aimed to strengthen regulatory requirements on out-of-state pharmacies.
