JEFFERSON CITY, MO. – Since his dad, Roy Blunt, has been running for elected office, Andy Blunt has been at his side. He was there through the Congressional campaigns in the 90’s, his brother, Matt Blunt’s, campaign for governor in 2004, and most recently, his father’s successful campaign for U.S. Senate in 2010.

As Blunt’s campaign announced earlier this month, Andy Blunt – now a Jefferson City lobbyist for the tobacco industry, auto dealers, and hospitals (to name just a few of his nearly three dozen clients) – will, again, serve as campaign manger for his father’s campaign, this time for reelection in 2016.

Andy Blunt’s role on the campaign comes as his father’s opponent, Democratic Secretary of State Jason Kander, has tried to tie Blunt as too cozy with the special interests members of his family represent.

“Senator Blunt kicked off his 2016 campaign by living up to his Washington insider reputation and hiring a lobbyist to run his campaign,” said Chris Hayden, a spokesman for the Missouri Democratic Party, in a statement on Wednesday.

In addition to his son, Andy, Blunt’s daughter also lobbies in Jefferson City. Blunt’s wife, Abigail Perlman, lobbies in Washington, D.C. for the Kraft Foods Group, where Matt Blunt now serves as president of the American Automotive Policy Council, a group that lobbies for the American auto industry.
