John Boehner raises big money for Luetkemeyer at Jefferson City fundraiser

What is next for Blaine Luetkemeyer?

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – Speaker of the House John Boehner visited Jefferson City on Thursday for a fundraiser for U.S. Rep. Blaine Luetkemeyer.

The Boehner event gave a big boost to Luetkemeyer’s campaign coffers. He raised more than $150,000 at the event which took place at the home of Pat Dubbert, president of Midwest Block & Brick. More than 130 donors attended the evening event, including state lobbyists Andy Blunt, Harry Gallagher, and Max Cook.

After the fundraiser, Boehner grabbed dinner at Ria’s, a locally owned restaurant. It was his third trip to the state this summer. In May, Boehner was in St. Louis for a fundraiser at the home of St. Louis businessman Dave Spence and attended a fundraiser for U.S. Rep. Billy Long.

On his last report, Luetkemeyer – a Republican facing nominal opposition for reelection – reported having nearly $1 million on hand for reelection.

It is worth noting that federal dollars could be transferred to a state campaign account, and the St. Elizabeth banker has made no secret his consideration of a 2016 run for governor. Former Missouri House Speaker Catherine Hanaway has announced her campaign for the Republican nomination, and State Auditor Tom Schweich is also mulling a bid.
