Randy Jotte

— Fresh off of two unsuccessful campaigns for elected office, St. Louis Doctor Randy Jotte is hoping the third time might be the charm.

Standing in front of a carousel at Faust Park in St. Louis, Jotte announced he will enter the Republican primary for congress in the newly drawn Second Congressional District.

“In Washington, D.C., seem to be going around and around in circles, taking us nowhere,” Jotte said. “The American political culture has become a circus. Our country is suffering; all of us have had enough.”

Jotte enters an already contested primary between St. Louis attorney Ed Martin, and frontrunner Ann Wagner, a former GOP official.

With Wagner armed with big money and big endorsements, and Martin armed with significant Tea Party support, Jotte launches in the face a big challenge: Defining himself (and affording to compete) within a field that has been established for months.

Jotte said while he respects his opponents, he believes they are part of the “same old political spectacle,” and called on voters to support someone “out of the ordinary” in nominating a doctor.

Wagner campaign manager Aaron Willard said Jotte’s announcement doesn’t change their campaign’s “focus and determination to fight for jobs, for our families and our American way of life in Washington.”

Jotte’s announcement comes 195 days before election day. Republicans will make their nomination on August 7.
