— More than city pride is on the line for two State Representatives this weekend, as the Staley Falcons from North Kansas City and the Kirkwood Pioneers face off at the Class 5A Championship football game in St. Louis.

House Budget Chairman Ryan Silvey, R-Kansas City, and his vice chairman, Rep. Rick Steram, R-KIrkwood, agreed to a friendly wager on the game.

Whichever one loses, the wager says, will wear the winning team’s football jersey at the first caucus meeting following the game and to wear the winning team’s colors on the House Floor when the state champion team visits the state capitol.

“I don’t even have an actual Staley jersey at the moment, but I’m scrambling to get one because I know Rick will look good in Green & Black,” Silvey admitted.

Stream, a graudate of Kirkwood High School, vehemently disagrees.

“We’ve already proven that the east side of the state is the side of champions in 2011. I look forward to Kirkwood adding to this while humbling our sitting House Budget Committee Chairman,” he quipped.

The two teams, by the way, face off Saturday at 6:30 PM at the Edward Jones Dome.
