— The National Republican Congressional Committee launched a new web video against Rep. Russ Carnahan, D-St. Louis, highlighting his “unconditional support” for President Obama.
“Russ Carnahan’s support for ObamaCare and the Democrats’ big-spending agenda is out-of-touch with Missouri’s working families,” NRCC spokeswoman Andrea Bozek told PoliticMo on Thursday.
The ad, shared first with PoliticMo, highlights Carnahan’s support of the Recovery Act, President Obama’s health care law, and the Obama’s latest proposal, the American Jobs Act.
“This season Team Obama has what Russ Carnahan calls his ‘unconditional support,’” a mock sports announcer says in the ad, referencing Carnahan’s comment to KMOX earlier this year.
The ad comes as Carnahan faces one of his toughest reelections, following a redistricting map that nixed his seat.
Barring action in courts to overturn the map, Carnahan well either run for reelection in the first or second congressional district. If Carnahan runs in the first district, he will challenge Democratic Rep. Lacy Clay. If Carnahan runs in the Republican leaning second district, he will face one of the two Republicans seeming their party’s nomination — Ann Wagner, or Ed Martin.
