Legislation names new federal courthouse in honor of Bond

– A bill to name a new federal courthouse in honor of former Senator Kit Bond was approved Wednesday by the U.S. Senate Environmental and Public Works Committee.

Authored by Senators Roy Blunt and Claire McCaskill, a new federal courthouse in Jefferson City will be named after Bond, who spent four decades in public service.

“Kit Bond has committed much of his life to helping Missourians both as a two-term Governor and four-term Senator, and I can’t think of a more appropriate public servant to honor in our capital city,” said Blunt, Bond’s successor. “As we look ahead to the completion of this project, I’m pleased that this courthouse will bear Senator Bond’s name in recognition and appreciation of his many years of service to Missouri.”

McCaskill praised his public service, adding, “The Kit Bond Courthouse will serve as a constant reminder of his service and contributions to Missouri.”
