ST. LOUIS, Mo. — Following her losing bid for Chairman of the Republican National Committee, Ambassador Ann Wagner has some big political decisions that she will be thinking about in the coming weeks.
Given her history, one thing is clear: She’s not going away. For the past decade, she has served in official capacities, from Chairman of the Missouri GOP, Ambassador to Luxembourg, and most recently Chair of Roy Blunt’s incredibly successful campaign for U.S. Senate.
Even following her loss, Wagner says she’s ready for the next two years. “Grateful for all of your support and hard work. I look forward to what lies ahead in 2012,” she wrote to her followers on Twitter.
Speculation is swarming that Wagner will announce her own bid for U.S. Senate against announced Sarah Steelman in a Republican primary.
Regarding a run, Wagner spokesman John Hancock emailed, “Stay tuned!!”
Before her run for RNC Chair, Wagner told talk show host Mark Reardon she was “seriously considering” a run for U.S. Senate, and,“Any one of the statewide offices I’d be interested in, and certainly the United States Senate.”
In a statement, Senator Roy Blunt expressed his appreciation for Wagner, but his disappointment in her loss. “Ann would have been a great chairman of the RNC, as she has already proven through her leadership as co-chair of the RNC and her incredible success as Missouri Republican Party chair. I’m so proud of the race she ran; Ann is so talented and will continue to be a great leader for our Party.”
If Wagner entered into the Republican primary for U.S. Senate, Blunt would be in an incredibly awkward position. On one hand, Steelman stumped heavily for Blunt, and served as Chair of his Small Business Coalition. On the other, Wagner chaired his campaign.
The winner of the Republican primary will face off against Senator Claire McCaskill in 2012.

She needs to start buying more stylish suits. The Power Suit and pumps are so eighties. So is the hair.
PoliticMo loves power-suits…
Do they also like leathery skin on neck, face and hands. Please stop tanning. It might look good on the youth, but not on someone who is 60 + years old.
