(JEFFERSON CITY, Mo.) State Representative Tim Jones dismissed comments made by Orly Tatiz Thursday in support of his election to State House leadership.
Taitz, the voice behind the “Birther” movement (responsible for questioning President Barack Obama’s citizenship), announced her support of Jones in a post on her blog.
“WOW, an unapologetic birther is unanimously elected to be the speker of MO House of Representatives!!!,” said Taitz.
She urged readers, “PLEASE, CONTACT HIM AND DEMAND THAT HE BRINGS THIS ISSUE TO THE FLOOR OF THE STATE HOUSE OF REP-S.”
Jones, who signed on to her civil suit in March of 2009, did not have any specific comment for PoliticMo when contacted Friday. “Yeah – I really don’t have any comment on that story. It’s really not a story in my mind. It’s something from several years ago, and I’ve never really made that a really important part of anything I’ve done,” he said.
When asked if he would pursue anything having to do with asking for the President’s birth certificate using the weight of his new leadership position, Jones said, “I don’t think that’s anything that the state of Missouri or the people are going to be interested in.”
Jones wouldn’t say whether or not he believed the President is actually a citizen. “I think that matter was resolved, and so however it was resolved, I have not taken any further action,” he said.
Jones said, “There’s one entity that likes to keep the story going and nobody else seems interested in it, so I’ve not been interested in it either.”
That entity, Fired Up! Missouri, was also referenced by Taitz in her post, where she accused it of attacking her. For its part, Fired Up! Missouri has posted repeatedly about Missourians involved in the Birther movement. It referred to Tatiz in its latest post as “the well-adjusted lawyer who sued President Barack Obama Barry Soetoro for being a criminal Kenyan usurper last year.”
Before PoliticMo’s conversation today, Fired Up! Missouri, KBIA, and Talking Points Memo have all reached out to Jones.
State Representatives Cynthia Davis also signed on to Taitz’s suit last year.

I had an interaction with Jones last March. In an email, he told me: “I laugh at you..typical left wing character assassins…you both make me chuckle…it is too easy to debate you and win…in fact, to quote a famous man, I’m doing it with half my brain tied behind my back!…Now go bother your own State Rep and State Senator with your foolish left wing diatribes. Maybe some day you’ll both be lucky though and you can vote for me for Governor!”
Tim Jones is one of the plaintiffs in the Barnett v Obama birther lawsuit that is now in the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. He may have conveniently forgotten that he signed on to be one of Taitz plaintiffs but the fact is that the case is still alive and his name is on it.
