(CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo.) The debate over debates is easing, at least a little, in the eighth district following Tommy Sowers agreeing with Congressman Jo Ann Emerson and two other candidates to participate in four debates, out of six in total total proposed.

“The Tommy Sowers for Congress team is looking forward to the October debates between the four candidates for the 8th District Congressional seat,” said Sowers campaign manager Jonathan Feifs. “We have accepted four of six offered thus far: Cape Girardeau on 10/11, Poplar Bluff on 10/13, Rolla on 10/17 and Park Hills on 10/18.”

“We’re pleased that Mr. Sowers has finally agreed to join us in Poplar Bluff and Rolla,” said Emerson spokesman Jordan Clothier.

Feifs said the Sowers campaign was also invted to VFW Post 5443 in Kennett for a debate October 25th, and one by Missouri State University in West Plains, two debates Emerson has, “not yet been invited to.”

Joining Sowers and Emerson, who tend to hog the spotlight, will be the other two candidates – Libertarian Party candidate Rick Vandeven of Chaffee and independent Larry Bill of Jackson.
